Overview

This 4 day Uganda safari takes you to Lake Mburo and Bwindi National Parks. Lake Mburo National Park contains an extensive area of wetland and harbours several species of mammals and a variety of birds including the rare Shoebill stork. Its sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores has a varied mosaic of habitats: forest galleries, rich acacia tree valleys, seasonal and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wildlife. A tour of Bwindi National park involves various adventure activities that include Mountain Gorilla Tracking, bird watching, Nature Walks and Game Viewing. Bwindi is home to 326 gorillas, almost a half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. There are also 346 species of birds and over 200 species of butterflies. Explore the culture of the local Bakiga and Batwa communities with village walks, blacksmith visits, craft shops and vibrant dances – all against the astounding backdrop of the forest-covered hills of Bwindi. Bwindi also offers some of the finest montane forest bird watching in Africa, and is an unmissable destination for any birder visiting Uganda. There are six main nature trails in Buhoma for those who wish to explore the “impenetrable forest”, including waterfall walks, forest walks, primate encounters, mountain views and impressive birdlife. Mountain biking follows a well-maintained trail from the park headquarters at Buhoma to the Ivi River. Along this 13km trail you may see wildlife such as bushbucks, black-and-white colobus and red-tailed monkeys.
